Winter Solstice

Today is our Winter Solstice. The sun rise at 7:00 and set at 16:54, giving us a total of 9 hours and 54 minutes of daylight, the shortest it's going to be in this year.

Batman Begins

Overall a good movie much darker than all the other modern Batman movies, but dissapointing action scenes. Tries to look like Bourne Identify fight scenes that failed miserably. Hate the new Bat Mobile's look but Katie Holmes is super cute in there. I think Gary Oldman is a miscast as Lt. Gordon (not a commisioner yet) and yet he carries his part the best out of all, he's such a good actor.

Morgan Freeman is charming as always as Lucius Fox and the smarty dude who creates all the Batman gadget. Out of all the Batman villains, Raz Al Ghur is the stupidest one, or at least how he is portrayed in this movie.

Christian Bale, now dare I said the best Batman ever. He has such an angry, miserable, and always in agony look that fits the Batman persona perfectly. George Clooney on the other hand is the worst Batman ... ever. George ... Batman does NOT smile.

Anyway like I said, overall a good movie.

Chelsea Georgeson won second title in 2005!

Australian Chelsea Georgeson (Tweed Heads, age 22) has snatched victory from Hawaiian Rochelle Ballard (Oahu, age 33)! Wooho my favourite surfer has closing in to current #1 position Sofia Mulanovich (of Peru) by 230 points. This is also contributed by surprisingly weak performance by Mulanovich in this contest losing at the quarter-final from Keala Kennely.

The women will now take a rest until the next contest on October at Malibu USA. That will be the third last contest this year, and the door is still wide open for Chelsea to snatch the world championship title this year. So far out of the 6 contests for the women, Sofia has won 3 of them and Chelsea won 2 (a qualifier, Stephanie Gilmore, shocked the world by winning the first contest on the tour).

Cross City tunnel delayed.

Ooohh in a big embarrassment for Bob Carr, the much touted 12th June 4 months early Cross City tunnel opening will be delayed. Now it seems the tunnel will open in the end of July, that still makes it 2 months in advanced.

He is now has a 250 points leads (total 3542 points) from the current second ranking on the tour Trent Munro, whose performance this year has been nothing less than exceptional (winning his very first title earlier this year at 2005 Bells Beach).

Current 3x world champ Andy Irons is currently in #4 with 2964 points.

Terrorism in our backyard

Last night some idiot sent a "suspected biological agent" to the Indonesian embassy in Canberra, possibly linked with the recent Schapelle Corby's verdict. How's that going to help Corby? Johnny was right when he said that the embassy attack makes it harder for Corby, although he did stop short from labelling the attack as a terrorism act. Well I don't have the similar restrain as him so I can call it a terrorism attack. People's stupidity is bottomless.
